Fabric Christmas TreesHow about these little guys to brighten your Christmas?  I love them!  I found them over at The Small Object.  She gives step by step instructions, with pictures, as to how to make them.

I have some gorgeous shades of green material that I think would turn out nicely for these trees.  I’m one of those people that wants to see the proper colors for their creations! lol!  Don’t get me wrong, I think these trees are great!  But there’s something in me that wants to see green trees at my house! lol!

I like the one in the middle with the red and green the best.  Enjoy!

Party MiceThese would make fantastic party favors! Aren’t they adorable?

I was looking up recipe ideas for peanut butter balls made out of melted chocolate and found these mice.  Super easy to make.

Here’s the recipe:

Chocolate Almond Bark Chocolate Flavored Coating
1 Jar pitted Maraschino Cherries with Stems(1 cherry per mouse)
Chocolate Kisses (1 per mouse)
Sliced Almonds (2 per mouse)
1 tube Cake decorating gel (for eyes)

Melt Almond Bark according to package directions. Holding cherry by stem, dip into melted chocolate (stem becomes mouse’s tail), lay sideways on waxed paper so that bottom of cherry is not touching paper. Immediately place flat side of Chocolate kiss to bottom of cherry. Place 2 almond slices as “ears” between chocolate kiss and cherry, hold until set. When dry, use decorating gel to “dot” eyes on top of chocolate kiss. Enjoy!

Gift bagIt seems like everyone uses gift bags these days instead of wrapping paper. We still us wrapping paper for our kid’s gifts, but I do tend to buy gift bags for everyone else… it just seems easier!

But this year, I’m going to try something different… I found a box full of large manila envelopes in my closet and I knew there had to be some way to make these into gift bags. I did some searching and ta da!!! I found it over at Pages of the Heart! She lists the directions and pictures on how to take a plain manila envelope and turn it into a gift bag! How cool is that?

I think this is one thing the girls and I will be working on this weekend… buy some red paint, use some of the stickers I have from scrapbooking and I’m sure we can come up with some very unique and creative gift bags! This picture looks like they were made for Valentine’s Day but they could be made for any holiday or celebration!

Give it a try and let me know how yours turns out!

Coin PurseMy girls are both crazy about purses…. and lately, Jillian has been asking for something to keep her change in.  So, I did a little searching and found these great little Coin Purses!   You can purchase the kit to make them through The Maker Store .

Here’s the description of the coin purses from their site:

These tempting wallets give you a chance to knit the basic shape in a snap, then spend as much or as little time embellishing as you want. Their ‘mini-clutch’ size makes storing your essentials sleek and unfussy.  The Coin Purse Cubed kit includes three colors of yarn and three finishing options for an exponential amount of flexibility and fun! Enough yarn to make either three unlined wallets; or 1 lined wallet and 1 unlined wallet.
Finished Size: Approximately 5″ wide x 4″ high
From Pick Up Sticks Felted Knit Designs. Level: Beginner

Since it’s at a Beginner level, even I might be able to do it!   I’ve done a lot of crocheting, but not much knitting.  Actually, Jillian is the knitter in the family, so maybe I’ll let her make her own purse and I’ll make one for me and one for Becca!

Don’t forget Fido… or his owner!

Pet StockingI have a friend who has become very dear to me in the past year, so this year, I want to give her a special Christmas gift.  I’ve been racking my brain to figure out just what to give her, so I started thinking about what is most precious to her… and immediately I realized it was her dog, Kayla!  So, how do I incorporate a gift for her with her dog?

I found the answer! lol!   Blooming Cookies carries a large selection of gift ideas that include cookie bouquets for pretty much every occasion you could think of!  This Holiday Stocking is for both the pet and the owner.  It comes with cookies for the owner as well as yogurt dipped dog treats for your dog!  How adorable is that?

They also have adorable gifts for new parents, get well gifts and birthday gifts! They can all be shipped wherever you’d like, whether it’s directly to the recipient or to you so that you can deliver it in person.

Personally, I love the pet gift baskets! They have an adorable Cat’s Meow Treats and Toys gift that includes two hand pained ceramic bowls in a wrought iron feeding stand shaped like a cat with treats for both the owner and the cat!  I love it!  I could think of a few cat owners who would just be thrilled with this as a gift!

If you have someone who is hard to buy for and has everything, check out Blooming Cookies.  I’m sure you’ll find a unique gift idea that will thrill them!

Area Rugs…

After two kids, one dog and two cats, our living room carpet has stains on it that just cannot be cleaned.  We aren’t quite ready to get new carpeting for the whole room, so I’ve been looking into getting an area rug for right in front of the tv… which is basically where the biggest stain is! lol!

While doing some searching, I came across a site called SuperiorRugs.com.  Wow!  What a selection!  I did a search by color to find one that will match our furniture, and came up with page after page of selections!  You can also sort by size, shape and price.  I think what we need is one that is rectangular, so there are many choices.

I had no idea how to go about choosing an area rug, so I went to their ‘how to guide for area rugs’ page and boy did I learn a lot!  First of all, the styles vary from Oriental Rug to Persian Rug, contemporary rug to traditional rug and European Rug to Native American rug designs.  The site gives you tips on picking the right area rug for your room.  It also explains the difference between Nylon, Wool, Olefin, Polyester, Acrylic, Cotton and Blends and tips on how to maintain your rug to help it last a lifetime.

Now that I’m looking at all the choices, I’m thinking I might get one for our dining room as well.  We have hard wood floors in that room and a beautiful area rug under the table would be perfect!  Since we don’t have a big table in there, an 8 x 11 size would work perfect.  There are a large selection of clearance rugs that are unbelievably priced in a large selection of sizes. Now the question is, do I get matching rugs, or two different rugs that would compliment each other?  Decisions, decisions!

Anyway, I’ll have to show the site to my hubby tonight so that he can have a little input as to what we get….  or at least make him think he has input! lol!  I encourage you to check out SuperiorRugs.com if you are looking for a new area rug!

Lunch bag from juice pouches

Oh, I wish my kids were still small!!! I love these lunch bags!

I found the idea over at ThriftyFun.com. They give you step by step directions on how to make them. They don’t look like they’d be hard at all. My girls used to drink the CrapiSun’s all the time when they were little! We threw these away constantly. Who knew I could have made money selling these things! And, my girls would have been the envy of all the other kids! lol!

There are lots of neat and inexpensive craft ideas over at ThriftyFun.com. Check them out!   I could spend hours there!
